King Schools Dispenses Scholarships to Aeronautics Students

King Schools co-chairmen John and Martha King recently hopped in their Falcon Jet and flew to Lynchburg, Virginia, to visit the Liberty University School of Aeronautics (LUSOA). The renowned duo spoke at the university’s All Aviators Meeting and presented two students with King Schools scholarships.

The scholarships, valued at over $20,000 each, include a human-sized $5,000 check and lifetime access to King Schools’ aviation training courses. This year’s lucky (but worthy) winners were Brooke Bridges, a B.S. Aeronautics – Commercial/Corporate student, and Brian Borders, a B.S. Aviation student conducting training at Superior Flight School in Atlanta, Georgia

“We are thrilled to support Liberty University School of Aeronautics in its mission to launch the careers of aspiring pilots,” said Martha King. “Both Brooke and Brian embody the excellence, resilience, and dedication that will make them great aviators, and we are proud to play a role in their journeys.”

Bridges aims to pursue her CFI, CFII, and Commercial Multi-engine rating in the next two years. She shared, “I desire to teach the next generation of aviators and train them up to be the best pilots they can be. My flight instructors have poured so much of their time and energy into me, so I want to give back and do the same for other aspiring pilots.”

Borders’ path in aviation has been longer, but no less passionate. He earned his private pilot license in 2007 but was forced to put a pause on flight training due to financial and personal challenges. He resumed in 2023, earning his Instrument Rating and completing a 120-hour Commercial Course. “The fact that King Schools is not only providing financial support, but also lifetime access to their training is incredible,” Borders stated.

The two recipients went through a lengthy application process before being chosen, requiring them to demonstrate their future goals in the industry and how they hope to change it for the better.

“The scholarships celebrate students who excel academically, lead with integrity, and exemplify Liberty University’s mission of serving as ‘Champions for Christ’ in the aviation industry,” stated LUSOA Dean Steven Brinly.
