Fielden Aero Adds Flybox Avionics to Lineup

Fielden Aero has hit the ground running after last year's news with the addition of Italian avionics manufacturer Flybox, joining their lineup alongside the Australian Aeropup aircraft.

Don Fielden has found an interesting niche for himself finding the best of aeronautical gear around the world and bringing them to our shores here, adding another proven brand to the U.S. domestic market. It proved true with the Aeropup, an Australian design that was so beloved it spawned a handful of derivatives since its introduction. Now, Fielden turns his attention to Italian avionics from Flybox. The European market is a bit hotter on the ultralight and light sport side of things that it is here, so their avionics designs naturally hew to the lighter, more compact side of things. Fielden noted with an engineer's pleasure that Flybox designs many of their instruments around the same computational core, meaning their smaller units have the same processing power and performance of the larger ones. That's not always the norm, since any time a product can be made lighter, it can also be made cheaper, too, a fact of life often used and abused in the world today. But Flybox stays the course, ensuring there's little sacrifice to be made even when selecting the smaller instruments.

Fielden Aero will now be the exclusive distributor for Flybox avionics, bringing two decades of their brand experience to market here. Flybox products are a natural fit for the Light Sport, Experimental, and Ultralight market, thanks to their lightweight form factor and small panel footprint. One of their popular units abroad is the APR1 Automatic Propeller Speed Controller. It fits to a wide array of engines and propeller types to set a custom table for optimized speed and fuel consumption, for every phase of flight and throttle position, giving pretty much any single-engine light aircraft single-lever power control.

Overall, though, Flybox covers the whole gamut of light aircraft instrumentation, with an altimeter, variometer, fuel computer, EGT/CHT, fuel level, RPM gauge, airspeed indicator, outside air temperature indicator, 2-axis g-meter, lift, RPM/map, volt/ampere diagnostic, oil pressure and temp indicator, 2-axis G-meter, lift indicator, rotor tach, manifold air pressure, chronometer, fuel pressure, RPM indicator... well we could keep going all day. In the end, Fielden can procure pretty much whatever you need, with a pretty agreeable price point to boot. And he'll be even happier to get you an Aeropup to mount them all in.
